After a twenty-five year long career in community planning in Central Alberta, painting in my retirement has provided me with a unique way of sharing my understanding of the landscape. My art and my work deal with the natural and the built environments and the activities of people.
Common themes are “where earth meets sky and land meets water” where the horizon line is a dominant design element. My roots are found within the prairie landscape so it remains my primary source of inspiration. I combine my love for making maps, my love for nature and the pleasure of painting ‘en plein air’ style to capture the essence of a place at a particular time of day and the quality of dancing light.
